Don’t Just Manage – Lead
And See the results!
Leadership is a key part of business success. Leaders inspire,
motivate, instill confidence, and set goals.
The great quarterbacks haven’t been the fastest or the
biggest, nor do they necessarily have the strongest arms. What
they all have is the ability to inspire confidence and convince
their teammates they can win. With 3:10 left in Super Bowl XXIII,
the 49ers found themselves 92 yards away from the end zone and
three points behind the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Montana stood
in the huddle and casually pointed out movie star John Candy,
whom he spotted in the stands. He then led his team on the winning
touchdown drive. After the game, his teammates said they were
more impressed with Montana’s cool than his passes. Why?
Because his leadership qualities helped them perform better. In
other words, Montana’s ability to lead won the game.
It is your ability to lead your own people that will determine
the success of your business.
A leader combines the vision and curiosity of a dreamer with
the practical mind of a builder. A good leader needs three essential
elements:
- A positive, success-oriented attitude
- Strong interpersonal skills which can be used to communicate
with an inspire others
- The foresight to set an organizational direction and the ability
to set clear achievable goals.
The truism says leaders are born not made. But this isn’t
entirely true. Focused Results can teach anyone to be a more effective
leader.
